Nintendo has officially responded to multiple leaks and claims surrounding the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 console.
Various images and reports have emerged from CES in Las Vegas this past week where accessory maker Genki reportedly showed what is claimed to be an accurate replica of Nintendo’s next system including a video.
Representatives from that company also reportedly claimed to have a final unit of the system. It follows on from leaks last week when supposed images of the Switch 2’s Joy-Cons made their way online and appeared larger and magnetic.
Nintendo has now subsequently commented on this via Japanese publication Sankei, saying: “These images and videos are not official.”
Genki has stepped back on their claims with a rep telling GameSpark (via Automaton and IGN) that its Switch 2 mockup was based on leaked information circulating in the industry, and the official size of the product was undecided. Genki reportedly also admitted it had not actually seen Nintendo’s next-gen console.
Leaks are still continuing though with a picture on Reddit showing numerous accessories for the yet-to-be-revealed console including what appears to be support for express microSD cards which would improve load times, game performance and installation times.
The console is rumored to have a larger 8.4 inch screen, larger kickstand and and an overall more premium look and feel. As of now though, Nintendo has yet to reveal any actual information about the new console – though an announcement seems likely in the coming weeks.
