Nintendo officially announced the Switch 2 on January 16, and through the first-look trailer, the company has given a detailed look at the gaming handheld. Now, while the video showcased the design and some of its abilities, a lot of aspects of the device still remain a mystery, including the price.
Some of the recent leaks, however, are suggesting a launch price of $449, and now a European retailer has listed the pre-order price of the gaming handheld. This particular listing is from GamesandMovies.it, and according to it, the Switch 2 can be pre-ordered at €364.99 in Italy.
That converts to around $383, but if this pre-order price is legit, the gaming handheld could very well have a pre-order tag of $350 in the US. After all, consoles are generally cheaper in the United States than in most other regions (Z1 Extreme ROG Ally curr. $449.99 on Best Buy). But then again, this alleged retailer listing is also thought to be signaling a $400 launch price.
It’s worth noting that before the gaming handheld became official, a good number of legit-sounding reports about it were based on leaks, and it’s possible that the Italian retailer is doing the same. That is, this is highly likely to be a placeholder price, and it’s quite the tactic for GamesandMovies.it to make this move by already accepting Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders.
The good part is that the official pricing details may not be far from now, as the company is expected to share more information about the Switch 2 at Nintendo Direct. For those unaware, that event is set for April 2.
