Dell followed up NVIDIA’s RTX 50-series announcement at CES 2025 earlier this year with a revival of its Area-51 gaming desktop. This new rig, complete with its new case design, RTX 5080 GPU, and Intel’s new Lunar Lake chips is now up for grabs. This a fully decked out gaming PC that comes with all the latest and greatest hardware, and Dell has put an eye-watering $4,449.99 price tag on it. That’s just for the base variant with 32GB/2TB config, and you can also snag it in 64GB/4TB config for $5,049.99 shipped. Dell won’t ship these out right away, though, and the delivery dates are pushed as far as some dates in April. Head below for more details and a closer look at the PC to see what you get for the price.
For $4,449.99 shipped, you are looking at the base configuration of Alienware’s Area-51 desktop powered by Intel’s new Core Ultra 9 285K processor coupled with 32GB RAM, 2TB SSD, and the new NVIDIA RTX 5080 graphics card with 16GB VRAM. The highlight here, as detailed in our launch coverage, is the chassis, though, which has a futuristic design with a unique ring-like LED running along the front. This has a transparent side so you can see the parts inside, and the rest of it is made of metal, giving it a high-quality look and feel. Other supporting components to round out the experience here include a 1,500W 80 Plus Platinum PSU with the new ATX12VO PSU standard for future proofing, and Dell is also adding a 360mm liquid cooler.
If you don’t mind splurging an additional $100, then you can config this rig with an additional 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD, taking the total to 64GB and 4TB. The rest of the specifications remain the same, though, meaning you get the same processor, complete with the same 360mm cooler inside the same chassis. There’s no RTX 5090-powered unit up on the site, at least for now, but we’ll update this space with more details if/when it shows up online.
It is safe to safe to say that both of these machines are definitely on the expensive side, and Dell is charging a premium here for the overall fit and finish of the product. This desktop tower, in case you’re wondering, has a standard ATX-compliant design, meaning you’ll be able to swap out the existing components for the ones that are readily available on the market. You’ll still need a conversion kit to add certain components and make them work, so keep that in mind. Also, shipping for these configs, as previously mentioned, are scheduled for late March with some dates spilling over to April depending on the region you’re in.
NVIDIA RTX 5080 and RTX 5090 GPUs now available alongside new prebuilt machines starting at $2,300
The Alienware Area-51 desktop, by the way, is not the only RTX 50-series-powered machine that is up for grabs right now. If you don’t want to wait for a long time for these units to arrive, we’ve highlighted a handful of other prebuilt systems that are now available for purchase with faster shipping. You can check them out right here.
