Party Animals, an Xbox exclusive, is coming to PS5. Picking up all of the Party Animals trophies will take many mad, hectic party games in which you’ll fight with friends and randoms for victory. The game made a big splash on PC and Xbox, so I don’t see why it couldn’t top our list of the best 2 player PS5 games.

Fight through fun minigames when Party Animals finally lands on PS5

  • Party Animals was released for PC and Xbox in August 2023
  • In this multiplayer party game, players battle it out to be the winner in various minigames
  • It’s coming soon to PS5, but we have no release date at the time of writing

Developer Recreate Games and publisher Source Technology confirmed that Party Animals is coming to PS5 soon with an incredibly cute trailer. Don’t be fooled, though, because the way you play this game is far from cozy. If you want a rough idea of what to expect, Gang Beasts is the most similar title that comes to mind.
Unfortunately, there’s no release date for Party Animals on PS5, though it would seem safe to assume it’ll launch in 2025 because it wouldn’t be very soon if the planned release was over a year away. My hope is that the team uses that time to optimize the game, maybe even make it PS5 Pro enhanced, and put together a banging trophy list that includes a platinum.

In Party Animals, you and your fellow players take on the role of cute, anthropomorphic animals and fight for survival across levels that vary widely in how dangerous they can be. For example, there’s a boxing ring where the only way to survive is throwing other players out and a plane where just staying upright and not falling off counts as winning.

As you might expect, you can punch, grab, and spin other players around if they don’t stop you. The key is to catch them unaware, knock them out, and then give them a good three spins or so before letting go. The game’s realistic physics engine makes for some hilarious moments, and you never feel crushed because you tend to have a good time even if you’re knocked out first.

While beating each other senselessly and launching random players off of levels is easily enough to get me playing a party game, there’s more to it than that. Completing matches earns you currency to spend on specific outfits or eggs that have a chance of containing rare cosmetics. You’ll also organically unlock new characters as you play, so there are plenty of reasons to jump into the game and stick with it.

Jamie’s Take —

Please have a platinum

party animals platinum

My only concern, as I’ve alluded to above, is that Party Animals won’t have a platinum trophy. There are 19 Gang Beasts trophies, and they’re all bronze. Given the similarities between the games, I’d be disappointed if Party Animals launched without a platinum because I’ll likely play way more hours in it than I would a smaller indie title, in which platinums are standard.

I think that, at the very least, Party Animals stands a chance of being one of the best PS5 multiplayer games upon release. Will you be jumping in when it lands? Let us know if you’re looking forward to the absolute mayhem in the comments.
