With declining Xbox sales, gamers might think finding a console in stock would be easy. However, facing lower demand, Microsoft has apparently reduced shipments to many European countries. The shortages mainly involve the Xbox Series X rather than the Series S. Social media is full of gamers struggling to find the system in stock. Microsoft hasn’t confirmed the console’s end of life, but some retailers no longer expect new shipments.
Xbox Series X stock is sporadic in the UK, where gamers struggle to track down the console. Major retailers like Argos have the Series X listed, but it’s unavailable for pickup or delivery in many regions. Polish gamers have reported a similar situation since December, which Microsoft blamed on holiday demand. There is better news in Germany, with the Series X still plentiful at MediaMarkt and other distributors.
Currently, it’s less difficult to locate the Series X Digital Edition without a disc drive. Even in the United States, more stores are focusing on disc-less systems and bundles. That aligns with Microsoft’s increased reliance on subscriptions and streaming services like Xbox Game Pass. The Xbox Series S is in ample supply, but the console lacks the 4K capabilities of the Series X, PS5, and PS5 Pro.
Whether or not Microsoft comments on it, its flagship Xbox sales numbers look bleak. That’s especially true in Europe, where updated statistics from VGChartz show only 38,581 units sold in 2025. Meanwhile, sales of the PS5 have declined, but Sony still moved over 328,000 consoles. With so many buyers deciding against the Series X, having such a low supply is even more surprising.
Retailers in South American countries like Brazil and Chile also paint a grim picture with few consoles in stock. Some gamers speculate that Microsoft is now producing Series X hardware mainly for its cloud servers. The company still has interest in developing a future Xbox console, but fans are likely in for a long wait.
