Amid a series of teases at the end of 2024 about a new series of video games, Playground Productions is bringing Backyard Baseball to mobile devices.

Backyard Sports announced, with the help of a meme version of Drake’s album cover for If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late, a new version of Backyard Baseball ’97 is coming to iOS and Android devices on March 27.

They also dropped a brief video showing game play from the updated version of Backyard Baseball ’97.

Backyard Baseball ’97 was previously re-released on Steam in October. That was the start of a relaunch for the Backyard Sports franchise after publisher Playground Productions and developer Mega Cat Studios obtained control of the series.

In a statement released on Nov. 19 (h/t Jennifer Maas of Variety), Playground Productions said it was also working on a new game for next-gen consoles.

The publisher also revealed the mobile game won’t feature ads, so players will be free to enjoy the full Backyard Baseball ’97 experience without interruption.

Backyard Baseball was the game that launched the entire franchise when it was originally released in October 1997. It inspired several spinoffs, including football, soccer, basketball, hockey and skateboarding.
