KEY POINTS

  • E3 2021 will be held in June
  • A lot of big names in the industry are expected to join, including Nintendo
  • Fans expect Nintendo to release “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2” this year

Japanese gaming giant Nintendo is notorious for hiding crucial information about its plans. Until now, it has remained silent about the much-awaited game sequel, “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.” Despite the absence of any official information, multiple industry insiders have shared new release details about “Breath of the Wild 2,” as well as the company’s plan for this year’s E3.

GamesBeat video games reporter Jeff Grubb has shared on the ResetEra forum some details regarding Nintendo’s plan for the E3 2021. Grubb says the Japanese gaming juggernaut would announce its plans by the end of May, more specifically, in the last week of this month. Fans should expect it “probably not next week, but the week after,” he said in the post.

Last Wednesday, Grubb tweeted a meme seemingly suggesting that “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2” could be clashing with the release date of “Horizon Forbidden West.” Although the “Horizon Forbidden West” does not have a specific release date yet, Sony has confirmed it is arriving in 2021.

Nintendo insider SamusHunter 2 claimed earlier that the company would hold a special “Nintendo Direct” for the 35th anniversary of “The Legend of Zelda.” Additionally, the insider has revealed that there would be a couple of tournaments for “Splatoon 3” and “Smash Ultimate.” Zippo, another prominent Nintendo insider, has shared in his blog about the company’s plans.

Unlike Grubb, who is optimistic about the arrival of “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2” in 2021, Zippo believes the sequel won’t release this year. Zippo has said that “if any Nintendo game was affected by the pandemic, it was this one.” However, he has clarified that despite this, “the game is nearing completion, but a release by the end of the year just isn’t seeming feasible.”

In the absence of an official announcement from Nintendo, fans should temper their expectations and take the claims about “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2” and Nintendo’supcoming plan with skepticism.
