A new advert for the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops 4 release has essentially confirmed that the exclusivity deal with Sony and PlayStation will continue.

Call of Duty was previously partnered with Microsoft and Xbox up until the release of Call of Duty Black Ops III in 2015, when the deal switched.

Of course Call of Duty games are released on both consoles and PC, however, the deal is still very meaningful for both casual fans and Call of Duty esports.

For the casual fan, it means (at least in previous years) that they will not only get special incentives and extra content on the PlayStation, but DLC map packs are also released a 30 days earlier.

And the deal is very crucial for competitive Call of Duty, as it determines which consoles all major, and most minor, events are played on.

There has been complaints about PlayStation in this regard, due to the bluetooth connectivity issues of controllers, which can cause latency in busy event venues.

However, it looks like PlayStation fans can rest easy, as the deal which was reported to last only three years, has been extended for Black Ops 4.

The end of a recent promotional trailer advertising the upcoming release, shows a PlayStation 4 ad at the end.

It is also significant pre-release, as in previous years PlayStation players have been given access to the private and open betas earlier than their Xbox One counterparts.

It isn’t possible to say with 100% certainty that this advertisement confirms the deal is continuing, and that announcement may come at the community reveal event on May 17th, or perhaps later at E3 in June.
