The Farm 51’s Kickstarter for the upcoming Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is now underway. The goal of the Kickstarter is twofold: To make Chernobylite 2 “bigger, better, and more badass,” and to let players fully play Chernobylite 2 in two different player’s perspectives, first-person or third-person. The response so far has resulted in the game having almost reached its goal of €95,000, with 26 days left to go.
“Over the past few months, we have listened to many of your opinions about Chernobylite 2 announcement and analyzed them meticulously,” reads the press release from The Farm 51. “One issue was critical to you – we’ve moved to third-person combat in the new game, and many of you were missing a first-person perspective that allowed you to play the game with the focus on detail of beautifully recreated 3D-scanned Chornobyl Zone. Then we’ll fix it, however, to do this, we need to ask you for support again.”
On the Kickstarter page, you can read more about the details of the fundraiser, including the team’s reasoning for going this route. And of course, there are various contribution levels, resulting in various goodies depending on how much you contribute.
Unlike the original game, which leaned more into Survival Horror, Chernobylite 2 will instead be a post-apocalyptic action RPG, blending free exploration of a huge, extremely realistic open world with challenging combat, unique crafting, team and base management, and non-linear storytelling.
Players take on the role of a planeswalker, who travels through parallel worlds in search of the precious, high-energy material called Chernobylite. Cut off from the world, trapped in the Zone, and attacked by hordes of nightmare creatures, you must fight for survival and unite the handful of remaining survivors.
Chernobylite 2: Exclusion Zone is aiming for release in 2025 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series.
