The wait is finally over! It’s been six long years since Undertale first took the world by storm. Three years later, developer Toby Fox gave us just a taste of its successor, Deltarune. Following the recent Undertale 6th Anniversary Livestream, Fox added a countdown to the official Deltarune website. The countdown has ended, and Deltarune Chapter 2 is now available to download. You can secure your copy by clicking here!
Deltarune Chapter 2 is out now
Currently, Deltarune Chapter 2 is only available on PC and Mac. The website links to pages on Steam and Itch.io where you can download a demo that includes both Chapters 1 and 2. Chapter 1 was also released on Switch and PlayStation 4, and I expected Chapter 2 will follow… eventually. The dev team is small, and they’re also working on the rest of the game, so they can’t focus on too many platforms at once.
If you’ve already completed Chapter 1 on your PC or Mac, Chapter 2 will continue using your existing save data. However, this isn’t required. You can download Deltarune Chapter 2 and start without any pre-existing save data, and it will run just fine. Of course, Fox recommends that you at least catch up on the plot of the first chapter before diving into the second.
About the game
Deltarune is a successor to the hit game Undertale, and it recycles many of its characters. However, Fox has been careful to say that it is not a sequel or prequel but exists in its own world. Even so, it’s hard not to draw comparisons between the two games and look for possible connections in the lore.
In Chapter 1, Kris and Susie discovered the Dark World hidden inside a closet in their school. Here they met Ralsei and Lancer and learned about an ancient prophecy before ultimately confronting the King. You can check out some preview footage of Deltarune Chapter 2 by clicking here.
