Ever since the Xbox One launched in 2013, gamers have been asking for a number of features. One of the most-requested items is an estimated time indicator which tells you when a game will be downloaded. After years of waiting, it’s finally rolling out to a small subset of Xbox Insiders. It’s unclear when it’ll launch for everyone, but the fact that it’s available to the “Alpha – Skip Ahead” ring is a great start.

Microsoft’s Brad Rossetti said the following on Twitter when announcing the estimated download time indicator.

Preview Alpha – Skip Ahead users we will be receiving a new 1910 build today… You will get a new feature today and we welcome your feedback. When downloading a game, we show you more valuable data on when you can play!

Many owners will be happy to see that a download time indicator has been added. Hopefully it’ll roll out to all Xbox Insiders — and the general public — soon. Considering that almost all browsers have this feature, this addition brings the Xbox One into the modern era. You can take a look at the important patch notes below.

New features

  • Microsoft is adding new features in this build. You will now see the estimated time to finish downloads appears in the queue, and you can also move titles in the queue up and down.


  • Addressed audio stability when the console comes out of “Instant-on” mode.
  • Fixes to narrator bugs in “Settings.”
  • Various alignment fixes in the interface.

Known issues

  • Headsets are not being assigned to profiles and not working correctly.
  • Sometimes you may encounter the incorrect profile color when powering on the console.
