OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)

Word leaks to Dragon Bank about Trillion Game’s upcoming mobile app so they scramble to make their own to release first.

OUR TAKE

Alright, I’ve still got one more of these reviews to do and get a few hours of sleep before my haircut appointment. Let’s do this. So, things are still chugging along with Trillion Game as things have expanded fully into two main fronts: Haru navigating the celebrity talent industry to find new faces for God Production and Gaku working with the game team at Trillion Game to release their bubble pop game. Naturally, with Gaku being the more sympathetic character, his storyline is the one I’m more interested in, though Haru and his antics have certainly grown on me over time…but I can’t say I’m all that interested in seeing what this show has to say about celebrity culture, or at least celebrity culture in Japan and, by extension, drama channels of Japanese Youtube. I get enough of that stuff in real life and I don’t expect to get any nuanced takes in the money making anime. Besides, the main thing that this does, at least for this episode, is to show Haru leaking info about the game to Dragon Bank, specifically so Kazuma can hear about it and try to take action to get a new game out before Trillion Game, which they do succeed at.

However, when it seems like history will repeat itself with Dragon Bank sniping yet another idea right from under them, that’s when the trap begins to spring shut. With the fake AI flower shop, they didn’t have the means or influence to get the word out about it to the right people so they could compete with Dragon Bank’s knock off. But that’s not the case now, as Kedoin starts going around to actors for God Production and has them start playing Trillion Game’s…well, game like crazy. And since it was a labor of love that was made by passionate developers instead of a soulless cash grab like Dragon Bank’s, that actually ends up making all of the difference this time, as the game rockets from eighteenth place to second. It’s not first, but there’s still a chance it could overtake it in time, and even if they don’t, they’re showing themselves to be a real competitor in the market, as both God Production and Trillion Game begin to truly make a name for themselves under this new management. I can’t believe I’m saying this but I’m actually starting to get invested in this! And with eight episodes to go, it’s probably only getting crazier.
