The indie mobile MMORPG Eterspire is ready to drop its latest update on January 14, expanding the game’s map plenty, adding controller support, and introducing its first cosmetic loot boxes.
Controller support seems to be high in demand for games on any platform, and mobile is no exception, with Eterspire adding compatibility in this update.
“This first version aims to improve the combat and grinding experience with intuitive button mapping and analog controls for movement, compatible with a variety of controllers including Backbone and Dualshock,” a press release reads.
In terms of in-game content for Eterspire, there’s a new area within the Vestadian Range, including a new primary town with new ships, NPCs, and supposedly some easter eggs. While that’s it for now, the next update on January 28 will give a major update to the game’s storyline, and with it an expansion to these already new areas.
Plus, new grind maps have been unlocked in the Vestidian Range, and three late-game bosses and many more areas in this region have been revamped.
The update also introduces Cosmetic Loot Boxes launching with three themes: Forest Whispers, Song of the Void, and Wings of Wonder. It seems like a fairly, well, fair system, as there are no duplicates earned, and these costumes will unlock for all characters on the account.
While there are these new Cosmetic Loot Boxes, Eterspite generally touts its lack of play-to-win model, with gameplay and character progression centering around classic MMORPG grinding. However, players can buy one of two tiers a one-time payment to unlock extra inventory slots, character slots, “reset tickets,” and more.
