Nintendo has just revealed a new quarter of 32-bit classics for the SNES (or Super Nintendo) app available to subscribers of the paid Nintendo Switch Online membership starting next week on March 28, 2025.

The list of games includes not one, not two but three very heady, grand strategy-type titles with NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION, NOBUNAGA’S AMBITION: Lord of Darkness and Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV: Wall of Fire all arriving alongside Uncharted Water: New Horizons which is… oh, it’s also a strategy game but with pirates? Neat.

You may recognise the star of two of these titles as Oda Nobunaga, a 16th-century Japanese warlord also known as “The Great Unifier” and regarded as both a powerful, cunning leader and as a fearsome tyrant. Ubisoft’s latest open world murder mystery, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, also happens to feature Nobunaga as a crucial figure in its plot.

The Nobunaga’s Ambition franchise is actually quite a long-running one with the latest entry having released just a few years ago in 2022, and remains more or less the same hardcore strategy series that recounts or reimagines the tumultuous and bloody Sengoku period.

You can see the new SNES games in action in the trailer below, titled “SUPER NES,” which is something I don’t think anyone has ever called that console:
