Nier: Automata fans are flocking to Steam to vent their frustrations about game quality.
According to PC Gamer, the Steam version is inferior to the Xbox Game Pass version. The Xbox port is based on the Nier: Automata Become as Gods Edition, which brought with it several notable changes, including a borderless video setting that resolves a problem that persists on Steam.
On Steam, the game launches with a fixed image setting, no matter what the user sets as their resolution. Players had to find workarounds themselves, with developers seemingly turning a blind eye.
When Nier: Automata came to Xbox Game Pass earlier this month, the resolution issue had been fixed. It also received a slew of other patches to improve crashes and additional performance problems. Frustrated that the Steam version did not get the same treatment, fans have been review bombing the Nier: Automata Steam page. The game has received over 500 negative reviews in the last few days alone.
The game hasn’t switched over to a negative review rating just yet, but players have a very unified call to action that they’re voicing loudly with negative reviews.
So far, there have been no official comments on the situation by Square Enix or anyone associated with the game. However, it’s been made quite clear that the Steam version isn’t quite the best place to experience Nier: Automata right now.
