Good build quality and attractive design
Capable fast charging
If you wish to spend around Rs 25,000 on a new smartphone then there are quite a few contenders like the OnePlus Nord, Samsung Galaxy M51, Xiaomi Mi 10i and Vivo V20. Now, Oppo has introduced the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G with 8GB RAM+128GB storage at Rs 25,990. If you do a strict spec-to-price comparison with its competition then the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G may not seem like the best value-for-money choice at a first glance. But then a smartphone is more than just its specs. Oppo F19 Pro Plus 5G has got all the firepower to deal with day-to-day operations. And as far as value for money is concerned, there are bank offers and Oppo upgrade discounts which can make the deal sweeter. After using the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G for some time, here is our review.
Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G: Design and display
The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G flaunts a lightweight body with simplistic design. It’s sleek and the camera module doesn’t protrude much. There are two colour options: Black and Silver. While colour choice is personal, the Silver variant looks premium. The metal frame and plastic panel which appears like glass feels sturdy and easy to hold. The rear panel easily attracts smudges and fingerprints but the frost finish helps a lot to hide them. Overall, the design of this phone is one of its strengths. But the moment you use a mobile case to protect it then it looks like any mid-range Android phone with a punchhole display.
There’s a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels and 409PPI pixel density. On the top left corner, there’s a punch hole selfie camera featuring a 16MP sensor with f/2.4 aperture. It is easy to reach the corners of the display and you won’t face issues handling this big screen phone. Talking about the display quality, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G manages to get the job done. It’s nothing extraordinary but there are no major issues as such. There’s no privilege to tweak the display refresh rate and you will have to stick to 60Hz. This is a drawback for a phone costing over Rs 25,000.
The dark mode of the phone offers better colour reproduction as the regular white background has a slight bluish tinge. Thankfully, you can customise the colours among cooler, default and warmer modes. Also, there’s an Eye comfort mode. With these options you can tune as per your need.
Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G: Camera
Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G comes with a 48MP quad camera setup offering support for video recording up to 4K (30FPS), 1080P@30FPS, and 720P@30FPS. Oppo bets big on lowlight capabilities and manages to deliver decent results. The camera is quick to respond to Pro settings and also there’s negligible shutter lag. The camera interface is quite smooth to operate and overall average users will have little trouble with the camera.
Talking about the image quality, the camera performs well under good lighting conditions and there’s little scope to complain. Surprisingly, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G delivers well in low lighting conditions as well. You can rely on the night mode of the device and expect noise-free results. Also, the camera delivers decent results up to 8X zoom.
The camera module has four sensors– 48MP f/1.7 main sensor + 8MP Ultra Wide-Angle Camera (f/2.2) + 2MP Macro Camera (f/2.4) + 2MP Mono Camera (f/2.4). As long as you are using the primary sensor, you will be really pleased with the image quality. But the ultra wide-angle camera lags punch. The macro sensor works decent under good lighting conditions but under lowlight it’s not up to the mark.

Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G: Performance and software
The Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G is backed by a 2.4GHz MediaTek Dimensity 800U octa-core chipset with ARM G57 MC3 GPU. Now, the Indian smartphone market is so used to seeing smartphones running Qualcomm Snapdragon chips that any other chipset makes buyers skeptical. On the contrary, we have seen phones running Exynos and MediaTek chips offering at par performance if not better. So, buyers should get out of this mindframe that only smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon chips offer the best performance.
As far as the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G is concerned, it scores slightly less in benchmarking apps but it’s a smooth performer overall. The experience is similar to using other phones with Dimensity 800U chipset like the Realme X7 or Narzo 30 Pro 5G. There’s minimal heating issues and average users would be pleased by the device. While you will face no issue with multitasking, hard core gamers may feel there’s something lacking with the phone. This phone is not made for gaming as it is evident from the 60Hz display panel. The device responds well to casual gaming and it’s a future-proof 5G device for daily usage.
The device runs ColorOS 11.1 based on the Android 11 operating system. It comes with a lot of bloatware but thankfully you can delete most of them. There are some nifty software tweaks and you won’t face any glitches as such while using the phone. It has an in-Display fingerprint scanner along with Face Unlock. There’s a dual nano SIM card slot. Talking about 5G, the supported bands include 5G (NR TDD): N77/N78/N41 (SA mode only supports N78 and N41), 5G (NR FDD): N1 (Only the SA mode supported). Both SIM cards 1 and 2 support these frequency bands.
The phone includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and you will get free earphones too inside the box along with a 65W SuperVOOC flash charging adapter and USB Type-C cable. There’s no NFC support but it has Bluetooth v5.1 and supports audio codecs like SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, and LDAC.

Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G: Battery
The device is powered by a 4,310mAh battery with Flash Charge support (10V/5A or 50W) along with VOOC 4.0, PD (9V/1.5A) and QC (9V/1.5A). The device easily lasts a day of mixed usage which includes moderate gaming. It’s a delight to charge the phone as the fast charging claims deliver in real life.
Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G: Verdict
Overall, Oppo F19 Pro is a no-nonsense smartphone offering everything you need along with support for 5G networks. This smartphone will please you with it’s design, battery life and good cameras. But if you are someone looking for more value for the money you are spending then you may not be pleased enough. Like already mentioned, the Oppo F19 Pro+ 5G has competition and that too at slightly lower prices.
