The Legend of Zelda enjoys a long, storied history with an abundance of all-time classics that define their genres and generations. With it now being thirty-five years since we were first graced with this wonderful series, Nintendo has a lot of celebrating to do. So far, we know that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is on the way, but that’s left many fans . . . unsatisfied, to say the least. Hopefully, there’s a whole lot more on the way. If you were in charge, how would you have Nintendo celebrate the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda? New games? Exciting collections with classics like Wind Waker? A full remake or two?
For me, I just want as much The Legend of Zelda on Switch as possible. I know we’ve got The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild‘s sequel on the way, so I’m good for new games thanks to that (though a new 2D title wouldn’t hurt). Instead, I’m imagining Zelda versions of titles like Super Mario 3D All-Stars, but with more effort put into them (wishful thinking, I know). I need every 3D the Legend of Zelda title on my Switch, Wind Waker in particular. I’d love to see Game Boy games drop on Nintendo Switch Online with some old 2D greats, or perhaps a full remake of a 2D title in the style of Link’s Awakening. Skyward Sword HD is a start, albeit an underwhelming one. Hopefully Nintendo has a bit more planned.
