Special Report: The deal will see ICI strengthen ties with leading international games publisher Ohayoo.
ASX-listed games developer iCandy Interactive (ASX:ICI) has continued its operational momentum into the new year with another strategic distribution deal.
The company announced this morning that its award-winning mobile title, Rocky Rampage, will be exclusively published by Asia-Pacific publishing platform Ohayoo.
Ohayoo is owned by TikTok which has more than 1 billion monthly active users.
The deal will further consolidate ICI’s distribution footprint across the Asia-Pacific region, including China.
With its Rocky Rampage game, ICI has already established a leading market position after the title won a Google Play award for Best Casual Game 2020 in South-East Asia.
The deal is for a term of three years, during which time Ohayoo will exclusively market the game across both Android and iOS devices.
It marks an extension of ICI’s existing partnership with Ohayoo, which controls an extensive distribution network across Asia.
Ohayoo is also the licensed publisher of the company’s Masketeers title in the Chinese market.
In Q4 2020, ICI flagged huge growth from its Masketeers game, which generated over $1m of revenue in just its first two months of operations.
The run of positive news flow saw ICI shares surge by more than 400 per cent over the second half of last year.
In addition, the company’s latest partnership with Ohayoo covers a much wider scope, thus “leveraging Ohayoo;s extensive global reach and experience”, ICI said.
Company chairman Kin W Lau said ICI now has an opportunity to strengthen ties with a key distribution partner in one of the world’s largest gaming markets.
“We look forward to a close working relationship with the Ohayoo team, especially now that we have two deals with them within a short period of time,” Lau said.
