Around Christmas, in late 2024, various PS5 and PS5 Pro users had many problems redeeming PSN codes in the PlayStation Store. When they did so, instead of receiving credit in the PS Store, they got an error message.

For a while, Sony didn’t offer too many answers, so many of these users were left without a solution to their problem. Now, two months later, the company is offering a resolution after analyzing which users were affected by this error.

PlayStation compensates users who had problems with PSN codes on PS5

Now, two months later, Sony has begun to address this setback. In the process, as reported by PlayStation LifeStyle, they have begun sending emails to affected users. These are arriving alongside additional compensation.

If you had this problem with PS5, Sony will give you 10 USD for free to spend in its store

The message these users would be receiving is something like this:

“We know that on 24/12/2024 a system error caused users to be unable to redeem coupon codes on the PlayStation Store, and we have identified your account as one of those affected by this error.”

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you and have provided you with a $10 USD wallet credit. Your coupon should now also be redeemable if you have not redeemed it. Thank you for your time and understanding.”

The good news is that it is not a replacement. In fact, it is 10 euros of additional balance. However, only in some cases. The coupons that failed may still be valid or not. What does this mean? Well, if you used one of those 10 euro PSN coupons and did not receive your balance, I recommend that you try again.

Now, maybe it will work. In that case, not only will you be receiving the 10 euros with the compensation code that should arrive in the mail, but you will also be able to redeem the original 10 euros again. The downside is that the latter depends on luck.

If you lost the code that failed, it keeps giving an error or you are told that it is no longer valid, you will not be able to redeem it again. Otherwise, you will be able to get a 2-for-1 deal, although it will have been two months later. Either way, it seems that most of those affected are US users, but this is not the only region that suffered this setback.
