SAN FRANCISCO — After roughly 24 hours of being down, the PlayStation Network returned to normal Saturday evening.
Gamers coming home from work or school Friday evening were met with issues when trying to access online features on their PlayStations.
Nearly 70,000 people reported the outage on Downdetector around 6 p.m. ET on Friday. Reports decreased to about 5,000 per hour Saturday.
Users were having trouble accessing their online friends list, account management tabs, the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct and even gaming Friday night into Saturday, according to Sony’s PlayStation Network page.
The page said the outage began around 7 p.m. ET on Friday, an hour after users began reporting the outage. As of Saturday at 6:45 p.m. ET, the page says all systems are “up and running.”
Anyone running PlayStation Network on PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5 or the web also encountered the issue.
Those on console were given an error code reading “PlayStation Network is currently undergoing maintenance (WS-37432-9)” pop up on their screen.
It’s unclear what caused the outage to begin with, but all features should be operational again.
