Slice-of-life game despelote launches in May
Soccer is life in despelote, a slice-of-life adventure game. On the outside, it appears to be about the sport… but it’s really about the people. The city is abuzz with excitement as Ecuador is closer than ever to qualifying for the World Cup. You pass and shoot a physics-based soccer ball around the streets and parks of Quito, seeing what happens if you kick it toward someone.
despelote is a bittersweet, dreamy, semi-autobiographical story of youth. The dense town is filled with activities, interactions, and opportunities for mischief. You can have genuine, funny conversations with the characters. The game is created using photos and audio recorded on location in Ecuador, creating a strong sense of place.
Developed by Julian Cordero and Sebastian Valbuena, and published by Panic, despelote will be released for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series on May 1.
Don’t Nod will publish Tiny Bull Studios’ The Lonesome Guild this year
Top-down, single-player action RPG The Lonesome Guild is about friendship and connection, themes often seen in the games Don’t Nod develops and publishes. It will publish the Turin-based Tiny Bull Studios game later this year. In the game, the world is being consumed by loneliness. Play as Ghost, a spirit with no memories. As a creeping mist corrupts everyone it touches, Ghost needs to gather a ragtag party of six. Each party member has unique abilities, stories, and struggles. The Lonesome Guild features dynamic combat, puzzle-solving, and a world brimming with secrets.
“From the beginning, The Lonesome Guild has been a story about connection,” says Tiny Bull Studios producer Simone Pellegrini in a press release. “We want to create an ARPG that stands out, where relationships aren’t just a part of the story, but a key component woven into the gameplay itself. We can’t wait to share more details about the world of Etere and its colourful characters.”
Developed by Tiny Bull Studios and published by Don’t Nod, The Lonesome Guild will be released for PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series this fall (Q4 2025).
The first trailer for Calamity Angels: Special Delivery is here
If you think the group in The Lonesome Guilt is ragtag, just wait until you see the crew of kooky carriers in Calamity Angels: Special Delivery! In this delivery service RPG, your team protects and carries packages through treacherous terrains with monsters and other sneaky teams wanting to make it to the top of the delivery service world. Compile Heart has released the first trailer for the game’s Japanese version.
Running a delivery service is not easy. You’ll have to mail our orders while keeping your crew happy so they continue to follow your instructions. If they are unhappy, they may not listen, but they could deliver positive surprises and victories in battle. Inspect parcels, pack them tightly, and be sure your staff has the right gear to thwart foes and the tools needed for a smooth drop-off. Your adventure begins with a roulette spin…
Developed by Idea Factory/Compile Heart and published by Idea Factory International, Calamity Angels: Special Delivery will be released digitally and physically for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch this summer (Q3 2025). It launches in Japan for the same platforms on June 26.
Jennifer Wilde: Unlikely Revolutionaries is coming to Nintendo Switch
Originally released for PC (Steam) in October 2022, Jennifer Wilde: Unlikely Revolutionaries will soon launch launching for Nintendo Switch. This marks the first time Outsider Games has brought a title to Nintendo Switch, which hopefully becomes a trend. The game, set at the beginning of the Jazz Age, combines visual novels and point-and-click adventure games. The narrative adventure follows a young artist named Jennifer Chevalier trying to solve her father’s murder with the help of a ghost. This is no ordinary ghost, though: it is the ghost of Oscar Wilde.
When Jennifer’s father dies under suspicious circumstances, she attempts to use her childhood gift of speaking to spirits to bring his spirit back. Instead, she recalls the ghost of Oscar Wilde, who had a secret affair with Jennifer’s Father. Together, they will find a trail of murder and revolution. Jennifer and Oscar will also deal with their shared loss and develop a deep friendship.
Developed and published by Outsider Games, Jennifer Wilde: Unlikely Revolutionaries will be released for Nintendo Switch on March 27. It is currently available for PC (Steam).
