With NBA 2K22 releasing on September 10, 2021, you’re going to have to decide where you’ll be playing it. If you have either a PS5 or an Xbox Series X, then you’re one of the lucky ones. NBA 2K22 next-gen features will make the next-gen console experience extra special for the game. Here are all the NBA 2K22 next-gen features that you should look forward to when the game comes out.

MyTeam Progression shared between console families

While technically not a next-gen feature, we just want to share with you that the MyTeam progression between consoles from the same family but different generations can be carried over. There will be no crossplay between different consoles, but at least you can take your MyTeam with you anywhere.

The W

One of NBA 2K‘s latest innovations and progressions was the implementation of The W. In NBA 2K22 next-gen features include The W, which is only available for the NBA 2K22 PS5 and NBA 2K22 Xbox Series X versions. It will have player-progression systems, off-day workout experience, and The W Online to play with other gamers.

The City vs. The Neighborhood

The NBA 2K neighborhood returns in the game, but only for older consoles and on PC. The NBA 2K22 PS5 and Xbox Series X versions have The City, a revamped version of the game’s MyPlayer hub. NPCs will populate the hub, building a vibrant world around your MyPlayer. An all-new quest system helps keep the game engaging. Matchmaking is also available for a number of game types, exclusively for Xbox Series X and PS5 players. Finally, The City is completely integrated into the game’s MyCAREER mode.
