Well folks, it’s good news, bad news time. The bad news is, the Nintendo Download for 4/17/25 doesn’t have a new featured title. The good news is, there’s still plenty to check out! That includes new additions to the Nintendo Switch Online service, new tunes from the Nintendo Music app, another Creator’s Voice segment and even some sales. So let’s start by heading back to the past courtesy of the Sega Genesis.
As someone that grew up without any Sega systems other than my Game Gear, it’s weird to see digital Sega Games on the Nintendo Switch Online service. But it’s also not unwelcome, since I missed out on a bunch of classic games. This week, the new additions to the service include Streets of Rage, ESWAT: City Under Siege and Super Thunder Blade.
Tiny Tim Energy
If you prefer promotions direct from Nintendo, here’s a couple:
Hylian Harmonies – It’s dangerous to go alone – take this! The soundtracks for The Legend of Zelda (NES) and The Legend of Zelda (Famicom Disk System) are available now on Nintendo Music, the smart-device app for Nintendo soundtracks! Immerse yourself in the tracks from Link’s first hero’s journey while you embark on your own adventures.
Creator’s Voice – Split Fiction – The latest installment of the “Creator’s Voice” video series is here, featuring Split Fiction. Hear from the game makers at Hazelight Studios as they dive into the development process and share more about this surprising co-op action-adventure game where players jump between sci-fi and fantasy worlds as contrasting writers who have become trapped in a simulation of their own stories.
It Takes Two to Tangle
Now, while that was a weird start to any Download, luckily we’re about to make up for it with a publisher sale. Specifically, Nintendo’s Partner Spotlight Sale! Here’s my personal highlights – 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim, Balatro, Castlevania Collections Bundle, Dave the Diver, Disco Elysium – The Final Cut, Enter x Exit the Gungeon, Hogwarts Legacy: Digital Deluxe Edition, Kill Knight, Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics, Metal Slug Tactics, Penny’s Big Breakaway, Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, Spiritfarer, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge, Tunic and WHAT THE GOLF?
