What good is a new console if you don’t have any Switch 2 launch games? If you’re buying the standalone console — here’s a quick look at all the top retailers with pre-order stock of Mario Kart World (easily one of the most anticipated Switch 2 titles).
Argos: in stock for £74
Game: in stock for £74
John Lewis: in stock for £74
My Nintendo Store: in stock for £74
Very: in stock for £74
At the strike of midnight, Japan will face a 24% tariff on goods coming into the U.S. It’s the main reason that Nintendo has paused Switch 2 pre-orders here in the States. For the most part, Nintendo has remained quiet on how much the Switch 2’s price may go up. Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser has stated that Nintendo is “actively assessing” what the impact may be (via NPR).
We’re just going to have to actively assess what that impact may be.

As for stock, Bowser says that Nintendo has been able to build up inventories over the past few months and predicts they’ll be in a good position heading into that June 5 launch period.
I’m a little shocked that Currys doesn’t have any Switch 2 pre-order options at the moment. In fact, their website is telling shoppers to head to your local store so you can pre-order in person. Alternatively, you can also register online to be notified when Currys will have stock.

Switch 2 pre-order stock available at Very…
It appears that retailer Very still has various Switch 2 bundles available for pre-order. However, only two bundles are still in stock. Normally, I’d roll my eyes at bundles that bundle/make you buy storage cards, but in the case of the Switch 2 you’re gonna need it as it uses microSD Express Cards only for storage expansion. Here’s what you can get:
Switch 2 Mario Kart World w/ 256GB SanDisk microSD Express Card: for £479
Switch 2 Mario Kart World: for £395
Hey, everyone!
Deals editor-in-chief Louis here jumping onto our Switch 2 pre-order live blog for the next few hours. Rory has been doing an excellent job finding all the latest stock in the U.K. and I’ll be keeping an eye on U.K. stock as well as reporting on any news coming from the U.S.
That said, there is no news coming from the U.S. because Switch 2 pre-orders have been delayed here with no word on when they’ll begin. As a reminder, tariffs go into effect April 9 at 12:01 a.m. (ET). It’ll be interesting to see if we’ll get a statement from Nintendo later today or possibly tomorrow.
Bring on the Bananza
One of the biggest games showcased at the Switch 2 Direct last week, and one of the upcoming console’s few true exclusives (that we know about so far), is Donkey Kong Bananza and Argos is currently taking pre-orders of the game for £64.
Bananza represents the first 3D DK game since Donkey Kong 64 all the way back in 1999, and with a July 17, 2025 release date, it’s likely to be a perfectly timed release. Just as you start to have your fill of Mario Kart World you’ll be able to dive into this colorful adventure full of vibrant worlds to smash and bananas to collect.
Don’t get caught out at Argos!
A TG staff writer has noticed a curious oddity at Argos, when you got to checkout with the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle in your cart, it will still offer you the Mario Kart World game as an optional extra. But obviously the bundle includes it.
While Switch 2 stock has stuck around at Argos a lot longer than I expected, you might still be checking out in rush to ensure you get your console secured ahead of launch day. So, be careful you don’t accidentally order an additional copy of Mario Kart World at an extra charge of £74.
Unless of course you want both a digital and physical copy, or just want to gift a copy to a friend or loved one, in which case, order away. But I suspect the majority of Switch 2 purchasers probably only want a single copy of the new Mario Kart.
This Piranha Planet camera is perfect!
The official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera is pretty dull, but this licensed third-party one from Hori is anything but. It’s modeled after the iconic Piranha Planet from the Super Mario series and offers all the same features, plus you can close the Piranha’s head to give yourself some privacy as needed.
It’s also cheaper than the regular Switch 2 Camera costing £34, instead of £49, so you’re getting (in my opinion) a much more exciting design and saving a bit of money in the process. That’s a huge win-win in my book.
Could Switch 2’s launch price increase in the U.S.?
With Switch 2 pre-orders delayed in the U.S. and the current uncertainty surrounding the ongoing tariff situation, there are fears that Switch 2 might be a rare tech item to not only get a price increase but a price hike before launch.
“Any previous tariffs were not factored into the price,” explained Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser in an interview with The Verge. This isn’t good news for gamers hoping the current $449 price had already factored in expected tariffs. At this stage, while unconfirmed, a price increase appears at least possible.
Let’s hope that Nintendo can update its passionate U.S. fanbase soon and a new pre-order date is locked in imminently. Right now, with so much uncertainty brewing, a lot of misinformation and wild speculation is circulating unchecked.
You can still get Switch 2 pre-order at Argos
I certainly didn’t expect to see the Nintendo Switch 2 sticking around in stock for more than two hours at Argos, but here we are. It seems that the retailer just got in a jumbo-sized allocation as you can still head over there and secure yours. You will have to pay upfront, but that seems a small trade off to lock down a Switch 2.
Feeling snap happy? Nintendo Switch 2 Camera available for pre-order in the U.K.
To make the most of Game Chat (and get all energetic in those Mario Party match-ups), you’re going to need the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera. And in Britain, you can pick one up for £49.99 from the following retailers:
Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller available for pre-order
We fell in love with the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller after going hands-on with it. With larger buttons and full-size thumbsticks, it’s a very comfortable playing experience and one we’d highly recommend to anyone looking to make the most of their Switch 2 pre-order.
And lucky for you, the Pro Controller is available with plenty of stock to grab!
Switch 2 Pro Controller pre-orders: UK
In the U.K., you can snag one for £74.99 from the following retailers:
No sign of U.S. stock yet, which is to be expected given the delay on console pre-orders!
Still no sign of a new U.S. pre-order date yet
Switching gears (pun intended) back to the U.S., there’s still no update yet on the when Nintendo will begin to take Switch 2 pre-orders in the U.S. The date had been set for April 9, but as noted, that has been delayed indefinitely after Nintendo released this statement:
“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025 in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged.”
Very is taking pre-orders of standalone stock
Just as I was bemoaning Very’s decision to place all its new Switch 2 pre-orders in pricey £500+ bundle, I’ve just spotted the retailer also has the standalone console and the more reasonably priced Mario Kart World bundle in stock. Grab them while they last!
Switch 2 bundles available at Very
- Switch 2 + camera + pro controller: £555 @ Very
- Switch 2 + camera + case + screen protector + microSD Express card: £549 @ Very
It’s a big day for Switch 2 pre-orders in the U.K. as Very has now restocked the console as well. However, there’s a pretty big caveat here, you can’t buy the console standalone, and instead must also pick up some extras with the cheapest bundle costing a pretty darn pricey £549. Personally, I’d stick to Argos down below.
Argo still has Switch 2 pre-order
Now this is unexpected more than 45 minutes later and Argos has yet to sell out of its fresh wave of Switch 2 pre-orders. This is obviously great news for anybody in the U.K. looking to secure a console for launch, but considering how quickly the Switch 2 pre-orders sold out last week, it’s not what I expected to see.
Argos stock is sticking around
This could be a hopeful sign that supply might just keep up with demand because Argos’ Switch 2 pre-orders are still available after almost 30 minutes. If you’re late to the party, you’ve still got time to secure your Switch 2 at Argos now.
Switch 2 in stock at Argos!
We’re only just live and we already have our first pre-order drop. Argos sold out of Switch 2 pre-orders last week, but it appears the retailer has found some more units behind the sofa as it’s once again taking pre-orders, so head over and secure yours right now. This restock isn’t likely to last very much longer so go, go, go…
