There was a lot of confusion about Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games and whether they’d include actual Switch 2 carts in the box with the front of the cover reading: “Includes the Nintendo Switch game and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack. Upgrade pack also available separately.”
It wasn’t clear if this meant that both would be included on the cart, or if it would just be the original cart with a download code for the upgrade, but according to a customer support worker from Nintendo, the physical versions of the Switch 2 edition games won’t contain the Switch 2 edition on the cart.
In response to a customer asking, the representative replied: “we can confirm that the upgrades will be download codes.”
According to Nintendo’s own support, the Switch 2 Enhanced Editions were false advertising during the Direct. After trying to nail them down for an answer, they confirmed to one of our followers it’s just Switch 1 cards with a code for the upgrade. No reason to buy these, then.

This includes Metroid Prime 4, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Kirby and the Forgotten Lands.
The main concerns with this is that obviously for collectors, you’re not getting the cart that is represented on the cover, and also for games such as TOTK and BOTW, these went up in price as well for the new physical versions.
