There is a rumor doing the rounds claiming that sony is planning on unveiling their next generation console — which they have blatantly refused to call PlayStation 5 — in February of 2020 via a State of Play presentation.

This information seems to come from a leaked marketing email from Sony, which is referring to this alleged State of Play presentation as a “PlayStation Meeting 2020” that will be taking place on the 12th of February; information that found its way online on NeoGaf and 4Chan, so it is best to take this leak with a pinch of salt.

According to the leak, not only will the PlayStation 5 be revealed in February, but SuckerPunch’s highly anticipated Ghost of Tsushima is also being rumored to release for the PlayStation 5; meaning that Ghost of Tsushima could well be a PlayStation 5 launch title.

This doesn’t mean that Ghost of Tsushima won’t be releasing for the PlayStation 4 — if the leaked information is to be believed, of course — although, at this point, releasing the game on the PlayStation 5 is something more than viable; even if the game ends up being ported to the next gen console some time after it releases on the PlayStation 4.

Again, it is best to take this information with a pinch of salt — but SuckerPunch’s Ghost of Tsushima being released on Sony’s next generation console is something more than plausible — so we’ll just have to wait and see how things unfold.

In 1274, the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the Japanese island of Tsushima and slaughters its legendary samurai defenders. Jin Sakai is one of the last survivors of a noble samurai clan. To combat his overwhelming foes, he must pioneer deadly new fighting techniques–the way of The Ghost–and wage an unconventional war for the people of Japan.

Ghost of Tsushima still doesn’t have an official release date.
