Could Tomb Raider lead the PS Plus Essential games for May 2025?

It’s going to be a longer wait than normal for the next batch of PS Plus monthly games, but you can look forward to the next lineup getting announced on Wednesday, April 30, 2025. PS5 and PS4 owners will then be able to access the new games on Tuesday, May 6, 2025! Subscribers will get at least three games to play, usually featuring a variety of different genres and publishers.
Naturally, then, we’re trying to predict what three games might come to PS Plus in May 2025. It’s a mix of educated guesses and a bit of fun. So, feel free to get involved in the comments below with your predicted lineups, and let’s see how close we can get. Here are our three PS Plus Essential predictions for May 2025!
Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered
- Play the PS4 version of this collection to unlock three platinums along with your Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered trophies! Or, alternatively, play the PS5 version to unlock zero platinums.

- Genre: 3D Action Adventure
This PS5 and PS4 collection brings together the first three Lara Croft adventures from the PS1 era and enhances them with improved graphics and, most importantly, a truckload of trophies to collect. Sure, it’s a little maddening that only the PS4 versions have platinum trophies to unlock, but there’s still plenty of trophy hunting to enjoy no matter which version you install.
More than a year after launch, we feel there’s a good chance this collection will get some attention on PS Plus in May 2025! While a little dated feeling by today’s standards, these first three Tomb Raider games still largely hold up — just read TrueTrophies’ Sean raving about the first game in his Tomb Raider Remastered review here if you’ve any doubts!
NBA 2K25
- Could we be getting NBA 2K25 trophies on PS Plus this month?
- Platforms: PS5, PS4
- Genre: Sports
We’re definitely overdue an annualized sports game on PS Plus Essential by this point. I don’t know how we’ve managed to avoid getting one by May 2025, but our good luck has to run out sometime! Seeing as we got soccer, F1, wrestling, and ice hockey games via PS Plus last year, I think it’s likely that we’ll come right back around to 2K’s NBA series with this next update.
While the PS5 version of NBA 2K25 does have enhanced features — including The Island social hangout spot — it’s worth noting that no one has unlocked this version’s platinum trophy due to issues with the All-Time Team mode. Luckily, the PS4 version’s separate trophy list seems to be working fine, so maybe just check that out if this does come to PS Plus in May 2025!
Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes
This crowd-sourced JRPG comes from the late Suikoden creator Yoshitaka Murayama and features a team-up with regular Suikoden designer Junko Kawano. In many ways, it’s the supergroup team-up you’d want for a massive modern spiritual successor to the largely dormant Konami franchise. Now, if it would only come to PS Plus, then more people figure out how cool this actually is!
Continuing the great work of its JRPG predecessor, Eiyuden Chronicle Hundred Heroes has you amass an army of over 100 party members in an epic plot to save a warring world from a tyrannical empire. The battles are flashy, the art is gorgeous, and it’s a great revival for a truly beloved series. Just don’t expect it to feel too modern — it’s very much an old-style PS1 JRPG at heart.
