A Plague Tale Innocence PS4, Xbox One, PC REVIEW: Like a rat outta hell

You can watch the excellent trailer for the demo below…

A plague Tale Innocence takes place in 14th century France during the early stages of the Hundred Years’ War.

The third-person action game combines stealth action with a smattering of puzzles and an infestation of deadly rats.

“Follow the grim tale of young Amicia and her little brother Hugo, in a heartrending journey through the darkest hours of history,” reads the official description.

“Hunted by Inquisition soldiers and surrounded by unstoppable swarms of rats, Amicia and Hugo will come to know and trust each other.

“As they struggle to survive against overwhelming odds, they will fight to find purpose in this brutal, unforgiving world.

Despite flying under the radar at launch, A Plague Tale is one of this year’s biggest surprises.

The game holds an excellent 82% review score on Metacritic, receiving praise for its emotive story and excellent setting.

“The game is a highly polished experience with an original and stunningly-realised setting, satisfying (if limited) gameplay mechanics, a great soundtrack, and a bonkers story that will drag you through some truly stomach-churning situations,” reads the Express Online review.

“Just make sure, before you settle down to play it, that your home is sealed up good and tight.”
