They are rarer than hens’ teeth for much of the country trying to get their hands on one, but a Nottingham-based auctioneer now has the PlayStation 5 in stock.
Major retailers are gearing up for a restock this month, with the Playstation 5 currently sold out across the UK.
The popular next gen console is now up for grabs through John Pye’s warrantied tech auctions, and it has been inundated with demand from eager bidders, as parents and gamers scour the web to secure an elusive console.
Eight PlayStation 5s are currently available in John Pye’s warrantied tech auction, which ends on Wednesday, March 17, at 12noon and all consoles come with a warranty.
All warranty auctions are now held solely online and items are delivered right to the winning bidder’s door, keeping in line with government guidance.
Business development director at John Pye, Sheldon Miller, said: “We have seen a huge demand for PS5s during the third UK lockdown, with people looking to bag the “must have” console to cure lockdown fatigue – making up to £150 over the recommended retail price of £449.
“The popularity of the new model has created an inflation within the market and its availability has become increasingly limited as children, teenagers, parents, and ‘big kid’ adults scour the market for any available units. Some major retailers have even started allowing customers to register for “priority passes”, entering them into a raffle and in with a chance of purchasing a PS5.”
John Pye has auctioned a selection of tech items, on behalf of retailers, managing surplus and refurbished consumer stock through its John Pye Tech lab and warranty online auctions.
The firm is also the first auctioneer to offer warrantied product auctions to the mass market.
All items are inspected and repaired by John Pye’s team of expert engineers to determine the length of the warranty – usually between two and 12 months.
David Harper, head of the technical division department at John Pye Auctions, added: “When you’re considering buying tech at auction – or even online from a second hand seller – it’s important to check if it has a warranty.
“Our John Pye Warranty means that you can buy with confidence, knowing an expert team of tech engineers have checked the item over and it is in great condition. We also now offer UK wide home delivery on all items in our warranty auctions, which run weekly.
“Buying tech and gadgets at auction usually offers the chance to get a great deal and save quite a bit of money. However, the scarcity of the PS5 is really driving the price up.”
