You can already go on a “Sheetz run” in real life and earn points using the convenience chain’s rewards program.
But savvy Fortnite players will soon be able to go on a virtual Sheetz run and compete for up to $10,000 in prize money through a custom map in the popular video game.
As one of the first convenience stores to collaborate with Fortnite, Sheetz officials are hoping to put the company in a position to extend its reach. Fortnite has more than 60 million daily active users and more than 650 million registered players across the globe. available on a variety of platforms, including PC, consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, as well as mobile devices.
The collaboration between the two brands includes the debut of “Sheetz Run: Only Up!” a custom map players can navigate. Starting in a Sheetz parking lot, players step into a store and are launched into a surreal world made entirely from Sheetz products.
“We are always looking for innovative ways to engage with our ‘Sheetz Freakz’ and expand our reach,” said Ryan Sheetz, the store’s executive vice president of marketing and supply chain.
From Jan. 24 to Feb. 23, players can record their quickest times completing the map and submit them through the UMI Games Discord server. The players with the 25 fastest times will split a prize pool of $25,000.
“Bringing this game to life has been an exciting journey of creativity and collaboration. Partnering with an innovative brand like Sheetz has enabled us to design a uniquely fun and immersive map that players will absolutely love,” said UMI Games President Tom Parry.
Players can access “Sheetz Run: Only Up!” by launching Fortnite, click the “Search” icon, and entering 1426-4763-1925.
