Game of the week is Session: Skate Sim on Nintendo Switch

Unlike other skating titles that have an arcade-game style, Creature has taken full advantage of the Switch’s unique play systems and made Session: Skate Sim a feast of complicated controls.

Very similar to Skate 3 with a large map that you can free skate around.

The tutorials teach you everything you need to know about Switch-specific controls.

For a small screen, the graphics are impressive.

If you want an easy skate along, this game isn’t for you, but if you like to feel accomplished when you successfully learn a new skill, this gives that buzz.

Also out is Production Chain Tycoon on Mobile.

In this seriously chilled-out mobile game, you are sure to spend hours drawing lines, building supplies and creating an adorable hub of islands, soundtracked by a super mellow, almost lo-fi vibe.

This is really one for those needing a break from the stresses of their day-to-day life, as you can calmly complete simple tasks, which are well rewarded and have zero consequences.

Want all the joy and time-passing of Candy Crush?

This is it’s calmer, more grown-up cousin.

With lovely graphics and great development, this is a great, simple mobile game.

Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty.

Rounding out this weeks releases is Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty on PC, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One/X/S.

Upon starting the game, you jump right into the story where you’re resuscitated using a magic medallion.

You then get the chance to create your character and the menu offers a lot of customisation options, ranging from how tall you want the character’s cheekbones, to tattoos on any parts of the body.

You are advised how to perform certain actions, like jumping, sprint attacks, and quick attacks.

However, the learning curve is very steep, as you encounter a Level 16 boss early on, who can one-shot kill you, forcing you to spawn back where you placed the initial shrine.

The PC port of the game doesn’t seem very optimised as you’re locked into 120 frames maximum, and you’re not able to use a mouse or keyboard to play the game if you’d like.

The combat uses a morale system that enables you to get stronger and outplay enemies with your abilities and attacks – you can choose to approach a fight with melee weapons, or ranged weapons.

These mechanics are a bit of a mixed bag, strong players keep getting stronger and make the game easier, while weaker players stay weak.
