PlayStation 5 users can now use their Apple Pay wallets to make purchases on the console.
Apple Pay Lands on PS5s
According to a report by 9to5Mac (via Gamespot), Apple Pay support is now available for PS5s. Players will find Apple’s digital wallet service as a new option to purchase a game or any other content from the PlayStation Store. This feature has been available on the PlayStation App on iOS and Android devices and the browser version of the store for some time now. However, this is the first time players can use Apple Pay directly on consoles.
To use Apple Pay on their PS5, players will need to choose that as their payment option during checkout. Then, they will be taken to a separate page featuring a special QR code. Scan this code, and the purchase will be charged to their Apple Pay wallet. Scanning QR codes for payments requires users to run iOS 18, iPadOS 18, or higher. Also, Apple Pay is expected to arrive for PlayStation 4s in an upcoming update.
Players should note that Apple Pay is not available in all regions, hence, only supported regions will have access to the new payment support on the PS5s. Interested players can check out the list of supported regions on PlayStation’s support page.
