A recent Bloomberg article featured new comments from Suikoden series producer Rui Naito, teasing the franchise’s potential future.
The team, Naito included, is eager to bring Suikoden to as many prospective fans as possible, as is evidenced by the recent announcements of a manga, anime, stage play, concert, and mobile game. He even mentions a yearning to have the IP in Hollywood if possible.
When asked about the future of the mainline series, Naito stated that he wants to expand beyond where it previously ended, implying that remasters of additional entries could be on the horizon. However, no official confirmation has been made.
Suikoden STAR LEAP: No Gacha for Main Characters
Regarding Suikoden STAR LEAP, Naito hopes to bring it to other platforms besides mobile. Additionally, he clarified explicitly that players will be able to get all 108 stars (significant characters) by playing through the story with no gacha.
The microtransactions for this title will be used to recruit characters from other games and initiate other gameplay-enhancing features, such as quickening headquarters development.

One thing we really want to clarify: You will be able to get all 108 stars through playing the story, without the gacha. These microtransactions are, instead, for recruiting characters from other games and other gameplay-enhancing features, such as items that speed up development of buildings in the player’s headquarters.
Lastly, Naito promised that, partially thanks to many original creators of the first two games still being at Konami, the story of STAR LEAP would “be true to the other titles in the series” and that he hopes Suikoden would become massive enough to “rival other AAA titles.”
