Don’t trash this email.

For those who have purchased Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch, you may want to check your email as your DLC code for Piranha Plant may be there waiting.

Owners of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and those who purchase a copy by January 31, 2019, will be rewarded with an unexpected brand-new fighter, Piranha Plant, in February of next year.

However, you will need to redeem a code that Nintendo will send to the email linked to your Nintendo Account to receive the new character. The problem? The email’s subject line doesn’t indicate a code is inside and simply says “Thanks for your purchase of the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate game.”

I received this e-mail and luckily filed it away, but at first glance it may be viewed as a simple thank you from Nintendo for buying the game and may be quickly trashed or ignored by those who don’t realize what it truly contains inside.

So, be sure to check your trash/spam/etc. and make sure you don’t miss out on the chance to play as Piranha Plant for free!

Piranha Plant, who turns into Petey Piranha from Super Mario Sunshine for his final smash, was announced during the final Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct.

While Piranha Plant will be a new fighter, he is in addition to the five new fighters who will join the battle and are part of the Fighters Pass, which includes Joker from Persona 5.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate for the Nintendo Switch released last week, and in our review, we said “Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is Smash Bros. done right, and done bigger than ever before.”

Adam Bankhurst is a news writer for IGN who is thankful he still has his Piranha Plant code! You can follow him on Twitter @AdamBankhurst.
