Three credible sources in Nate The Hate, The Verge and VGC are all reporting that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed later this week on Thursday (Friday in Australia).
It’s reported that the first reveal will focus on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware with a software showcase coming in late February or early March. Hopefully this initial hardware reveal will be like the first Switch with some glimpses of games to get us excited.
“I can share with you that Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the coming week… I have been told Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16 (US time)… just a few days from now,” said the podcasters.
“I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There is not going to be any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus.” continued the podcasters.
It’s also reported that the Switch 2 could likely launch in May/June and that a new version of Mario Kart will be available at launch followed by a 3D Mario later this year.
It’s also reported that third-party games such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and Metal Gear Solid Delta are among just a few third-party games that are set to come to the console.
It’s expected that the Nintendo Switch 2 will have a larger 8.4-inch display, Joy-Con controllers that connect via magnets with hall effect analogue sticks, a more powerful APU with NVIDIA DLSS support for higher framerates and more, but it feels like we’ll get confirmation on all of this later this week.
If you did want a little taste of what the Nintendo Switch 2 might look like, we got our hands-on with a mock-up at CES and you can look at that HERE or below.
