The Metal Gear Sold Delta: Snake Eater release date (April 25th) was officially released this morning alongside confirmation that the Snake vs Monkey mode would be back, but it left us wondering what would happen to the Xbox version.

Konami has now confirmed that the PlayStation and Steam version of the game will feature Snake vs Monkey whilst a new special; game will be implemented for the Xbox version.

Going off the teaser in the generic trailer below, it looks as though it’ll be Snake vs Bomberman which is another Konami property, so it makes sense and would work artistically fairly similar to that of Snake vs Monkey.

“The special game “Snake vs Monkey” to capture the Pipo Monkeys is back for PS5® and Steam®! A different special game will be implemented for the Xbox version! Please wait for further details.”

If you’re not familiar with Snake vs Monkey, this was a minigame featured in Metal Gear Sold 4 on the PS2 in which you play as Solid Snake to capture a group of monkeys in the jungle. It’s set in stages from the main game and was supposed to be kid friendly with Snake only able to use a Monkey Shaker and stun grenades to catch the monkeys. The mode had 7 stages and has been missing on all subsequent re-releases of the game, so many are surprised to see it back.
