If you’re looking for a game to test your sleuthing skills, then you’re in luck. You not only get one but two games of such on Nintendo Switch. It’s the Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir and the Famicom Detective Club: The Girl Who Stands Behind.
Each one is available for $34.99 but if you buy one in the Nintendo eShop, you can purchase the other at $10 off.
For these visual novels, players can move their investigation forward by examining the surroundings and interrogating suspects. They can move the magnifying glass across the screen and a push of a button can immediately inspect clues. Besides clues, it’s just as important to know how good the alibis of the witnesses are and these can be done by asking the correct questions. Players must learn the truth to access new areas and meet more suspects, all needed to solve the mystery.
These announced versions are the enhanced titles of the original games released in Japan. Thus, the new versions included better graphics, music, and sound effects.
So what are the games about? In The Missing Heir, players go to the lush Japanese countryside. They take on the role of a man named Amachi, who has been found unconscious and has no memory of what happened. Eventually, players learn that they are actually a detective working to solve a murder involving the wealthy Ayashiro family. Be sure to solve the mystery before something happens again to stop the investigation.
The Girl Who Stands Behind, on the other hand, begins at Ushimitsu High School. Stories are going around that a ghost haunts the school ground and it seems that a student looking into it has lost her life. The death has resulted in the victim’s classmates, as well as the local community, shaken. As someone who plans to become a detective, players are tasked with discovering the truth behind the student’s death and the mystery that lies behind the ghost.
