Two Point Hospital

It looks like your patients will be feeling like a pair of curtains for a bit longer as the doctor can’t see them right now. Or this year, for that matter. That’s because Two Point Hospital is suffering from a delay, which seems to be contagious given how many games have been diagnosed with the same condition – Watch Dogs Legion and The Last Of Us Part 2 have also caught the bug.

You see, it seems as though transplanting the PC version on to consoles was trickier than first thought, whereby all of the vital organs wouldn’t fit in as they had planned. Obviously no game can survive without its heart or appendix, so they’re busy cutting it up and stitching it back together. But getting a satisfactory finish – aka, not a Frankenstein like port – takes time. And so they’ve booked the operating theatre for a few more months.

Unfortunately, despite the team’s best efforts, Two Point Studios were unable to find a treatment plan that kept the game on track for a 2019 discharge. That has now been pencilled in for the first half of 2020, the reasons for which were well explained on their blog.

In their own, non medical-ised words:

So why the delay? Put simply: making a management simulation game on three consoles (and making it the best it possibly can be on all three), is a tricky programming puzzle.

We have to take the game apart and figure out how to fit it into what is essentially a smaller box. That takes a fair amount of time and engineering work, and it turns out we need to take a little more to iron out the remaining creases.

So, we’re going to take a bit longer to get that right. We expect a new release date for Two Point Hospital Console to be in the first half of 2020 and we’ll be sure to keep you right up to date with our progress.

So Two Point Hospital is still showing signs of life, but it’s going to need a little more physio before it’s ready to play. In the meantime, we could all send it a ‘get better soon’ balloon, along with an antidotal bunch of grapes.
