With the game being ripped from the PS Store, the War of the Monsters delisted PS2 trophies are a sad sight indeed. Sure, we’ve received an updated version of the game for PS5 and PS4 that comes with a platinum. But, what about those old PS4 trophies? What if we want to earn those as well? Well, maybe you still can.

PS Plus Premium users can still access the old version of War of the Monsters

The PS5 and PS4 versions of the game came to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium in April 2025. The game sees you demolishing your foes and the cities around as you fight to show who is the toughest, most powerful creature in all the land. It’s a fun little fighter that is overflowing with PS2 charm.

War of the Monsters trophies

Just like when the PS4 Siren title was delisted when it also received a better enhanced version for PS5 and PS4, the 2015 version of War of the Monsters has been delisted from the PS Store. You can no longer purchase the platinumless version of the game, as the only result that crops up is the new release.

If you were really eager to earn the trophies in both versions of the game, you’re out of luck. Kinda of. As with the Siren PS Plus loophole, you can still access the older version of War of the Monsters if you have a PS Plus Premium subscription.

Unfortunately, you can no longer purchase the 2015 version through the PS Store, so you are at the whims of Sony here. For all we know, Sony could pull the old version of the game from the PS Store at a moment’s notice, meaning we all lose access to it, permanently.

I would recommend jumping on that version of the game pronto if you do indeed want to have both trophy lists completed in your collection. The trophy list isn’t hard to work through, and you can probably grab all 12 trophies in around five or so hours. So, you could easily knock this one out over the course of a weekend.

Both trophy lists are completely different from one another for the most part, so it shouldn’t feel like you’re having to do the same tasks over and over again. This should make the trophy hunt in both games much more enjoyable. As a lover of the fighting game genre, I am actually really tempted to earn the trophies in both versions.

What do you make of this PS Plus loophole? Will you be taking advantage of it? Should we add the new version to our list of the best PS5 fighting games? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
