In just a matter of days, Obsidian released a new update for its latest RPG, Avowed. Title Update 1.2.3 packs over 80 fixes, tweaks and changes, and Obsidian has shared its full patch notes. So, let’s see what it brings to the table.

Patch 1.2.3 makes the game more stable. To be more precise, it fixes a crash caused by GameThread timing out. It also fixes a crash that happened when pressing ESC after climbing a ladder. Another fix addresses a crash on PC when playing with an Xbox Account and losing internet connection. Plus, it fixes a rare crash related to rendering.

Update 1.2.3 also improves player movement and fixes some bugs. It fixes a problem where the Steel Garotte guard’s weapon would get bigger when hit before a conversation. The camera will no longer jump when opening a small lockbox. Players won’t float for a moment after opening a sarcophagus, and they won’t briefly stand up when opening a small lockbox.

This update also improves combat. Enemy waves now spawn more reliably, and NPCs won’t randomly teleport under the map. Water-based electrical damage works better, and melee weapons (except one-handed swords) now cause proper camera shakes when hitting enemies. Also, newly spawned enemies will now detect the player correctly during combat. Thus, combat should feel better than before. So, kudos to the devs for their support.

And that’s not all. Along with some quest bug fixes, this patch also brings visual improvements. The fog in The Garden’s opening area looks better, and the lighting near the Shrine to Skaen in Emerald Stair has been improved. Plus, during the debate with Giatta, Vidarro, and Quillici in Fior mes Iverno, NPCs will now look at the player instead of the camera. The patch also removes graphical glitches from the dreamscourge effect near the Farmer’s Market in Emerald Stair.

Curiously, there is still no native support for AMD FSR 3.0 Frame Gen. The game also does not support Intel XeSS. That’s a bummer as games should support all PC upscalers from the get-go. Still, since this is a UE5 game, there must be a way to enable FSR 3.0 FG.

Like always, Steam will download this update the next time you launch its client. Below you can also find its complete changelog.
