FC Mobile Tackles Leagues System Issue with Update and Player Compensation

FC Mobile is a mobile football simulation game developed by EA Sports, part of their popular FIFA franchise. The game, previously known as FIFA Mobile, rebranded to EA Sports FC Mobile following EA’s split from FIFA in 2023. It has gained significant worldwide popularity following its release, appealing to football fans and keeping players invested with its smooth live action service. EA Sports FC Mobile has the rights to many officially licensed clubs, players, and leagues from around the world, including leagues like the Premier League, La Liga, Bundesliga, and more. Players build and customize their own team by acquiring players through in-game packs, events, and the transfer market. Gameplay now involves creating leagues to compete with friends or participate in league vs. league matches through competitive multiplayer modes, like Head-to-Head and VS Attack.

As with all live-service games, FC Mobile has faced technical issues like bugs and glitches. One such problem emerged following the game’s long awaited January patch update which had intended only to bring a new revamped Leagues system and other gameplay improvements. On the first day of the update, players realized that they were being rewarded with unfairly large amounts of League Tokens for performing League Quests. This allowed them to exchange their League Tokens for Rewards in the Store, regardless of whether or not these rewards were actually earned.

After over 24 hours of silence from the game’s developers, the FC Mobile dev team and EA Sports addressed the issue via in-game messages and posts on various social media accounts, admitting that the glitch had created rifts between players who had taken advantage of the game, and those who missed their chance or chose not to engage with the unfair mechanic. The FC Mobile dev team decided to put the League Token Exchange and League creation systems on hold for the time being as they investigate the bug. These features will likely remain unavailable until the glitch is fixed, and they decide how to go about fairly compensating players.

FC Mobile will be releasing a “Make Good compensation” system for players who missed out on the glitch’s benefits. The actual details of this system have remained unknown up to this point. Only time will tell what exactly EA deems “fair compensation” and until that point many of the game’s features will remain inactive.
