Exclusive Xbox games are quickly becoming a rare breed. Forza Horizon 5 is the latest first-party title to make its way onto the PS5 this spring. PlayStation gamers will have access to the same stunning Mexican scenery, and DLC Xbox and PC players have been enjoying.

Over the past year, an increasing number of Xbox exclusives have found their way onto PlayStation consoles. However, the Forza Horizon series has been synonymous with Xbox gaming systems since its 2012 debut. Today, Microsoft confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 would arrive on the PS5 this Spring. With the Forza Horizon 5 PS5 version, Sony gamers can expect the same free content available on the PC and Xbox. Other DLC and add-ons will be available for purchase at the PlayStation Store.

Developer Panic Button has joined forces with Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games to help with the transition to the PlayStation. Technical details are scarce, but the PS5 Pro’s high refresh rate gaming could potentially benefit Forza Horizon 5. Even on the standard PS5, gamers can expect to race through the same brightly colored streets and jungles of Mexico.

To celebrate the arrival of Forza Horizon 5 on PlayStation, the game will introduce the cross-platform Horizon Realms. One key to the game’s long-lasting appeal is a regular helping of new seasonal content. Realms will reintroduce older content to help PS5 players catch up with special challenges, courses, and vehicles. Convoys will also allow PC, Xbox, and PlayStation racers to compete head-to-head.

With declining Xbox console sales, Microsoft continues to pivot toward a multi-platform strategy. Game Pass may not come to the PlayStation, but many of its popular titles, like Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, will. Compared to Gran Turismo 7 or Forza Motorsport, Forza Horizon 5 features more arcade-like action. Regardless, seeing the franchise on the PS5 is going to be a shock for virtual racers.
