For weeks now Rumors about a God of War Remastered Collection for the PS5, but the latest State of Play remained a disappointment for fans. No Kratos, no epic announcement, nothing. But now a surprise announcement is giving new hope and suggests that the long-awaited reveal could be imminent.

An anniversary with more than just art

Californian art gallery Nucleus celebrates the 20th anniversary of God of War with a special exhibition. From the March 15 to 23 fans can admire tribute art, concept art and memorabilia. Well-known artists such as Luke Berliner and Cecil Kim, who worked on the franchise, will be there. A highlight: On March 15, there will be an exclusive panel with developers, which might be more than just a nostalgic look back.

The official description of the event states: “Two decades after the release of the first game on the PS2, God of War is considered one of the most legendary franchises in gaming history.” A celebration that would be perfect for announcing a remastered collection.

Insiders fuel the rumors

Industry insider Jeff Grubb continues to add fuel to the fire. In a recent Bluesky post, he says: “The rumors about the God of War Remaster were just too early. It will happen soon.” And the insider is not alone in this. It has long been suspected that Sony will not simply let the anniversary pass by.

Should the collection actually be released, it is likely to include the classics God of War, God of War 2, God of War 3, God of War: Chains of Olympus, God of War: Ghost of Sparta and God of War: Ascension in other words, the entire Greek era of Kratos in new splendor.

But even if the Remastered Collection turns out to be a fallacy, one thing is certain: Kratos’ journey is not over yet. Speculation about the next chapter is gathering pace. Insiders have suggested a story set in Egypt, while others believe that we will instead see could experience a younger Kratos in Greece. This coincides with vague reports that Kratos could visit different settings.

Whether it’s a remastered collection or the next big adventure, 2025 could be a spectacular year for God of War fans.
