Costumes in Tales of Graces f Remastered are a fun way to change up the mood in cutscenes and in battle. Unlike other entries in the franchise, Graces requires an extra step before you can equip new outfits onto your characters.
How to unlock costumes in Tales of Graces f Remastered
For starters, you’ll need to unlock each outfit first. Some outfits, such as the school uniforms and previous Tales ones, are DLC. You will need to purchase them with real-life money and then retrieve them from the DLC tab in your Items menu. Others are available in the game as collectible or purchasable items, or as quest rewards.
Unlocking the outfit actually gives you a title. You will need to equip that title onto a character and then level it up to earn the costume, much like how you would learn new Artes or gain new attributes. Some titles let you wear the costume after Level 3, while others require Level 5.
Since each character has over a hundred titles to look at, the idea of looking through all of them for a costume title might seem daunting. Never fear, though. Costume titles have an icon resembling a cat’s head, which makes it easy to look for them on the menu.
Equipping costumes
Equipping costumes in Tales of Graces f Remastered is a way more straightforward process. After reaching Level 3 or 5 of a particular costume title, you’ll unlock a skin. Go to the status menu for a character and toggle until the fifth screen of their stats. From here, you can equip the costume onto the character of your choice. The sixth screen is for attachments, which you can use to further customize your character. Accessories range between glasses, bestial or fantastical elements, and dolls.
As a note, the character will wear the costume and attachments on the map, in battle, and in most cutscenes. This means that you might accidentally ruin the mood of a serious cutscene because Malik is running around in a Speedo or you put a giant cardboard box over Cheria cosplaying as Natalia from Tales of the Abyss. While some fans consider this hilarious and a part of the Tales experience, others who are experiencing the story the first time might not want to see that. So keep that in mind when you’re coming up with your party members’ looks.
