Following the recent reveal of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, fans quickly realised that Bam Margera, after suffering a spate of legal and health issues over the course of the last several years, had been omitted from the trailer, fuelling speculation that he’d been cut from the remakes altogether.
This was apparently the case until Tony Hawk himself intervened, demanding that Margera be reinstated as a playable skater in the game.
This prompted a last minute change of plans which saw Activision fly the former Jackass and Viva La Bam star to their studio for a full body scan to have him added to the game. This news comes via skating podcast The Nine Club where host Roger Bagley detailed the back-and-forth between Hawk and Activision which ultimately led to the change.
“The game was already done,” explained Bagley. “Tony called up Activision and was like ‘hey, we’re putting Bam in the thing’, and they were like ‘hey, we can’t’. Ultimately, Hawk put his foot down and the rest is, seemingly, history.
Obviously, there’s no official word out of Activision as yet, so take this with a grain of salt. But given the pair’s enduring friendship, it’d come as no surprise that the Hawkman would go in to bat for his beleaguered friend.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 releases July 11, 2025.
