Microsoft released an Xbox software update that will allow consoles to recognize external hard drives with huge capacity.
Before the patch, Xbox could recognize and read data from disks up to 16 TB, while with version 10.0.26100.3362, which is already available for download, this figure has been changed to 20 TB and more. However, for this purpose, according to NeowinThe drive will need to be formatted when connected to the console.
However, Xbox Series X and Series S will only be able to run backwards compatible games from external USB drives (even when using an SSD). Games created for current-generation Microsoft consoles only work when stored on internal storage or expansion cards.
The memory expansion, according to Microsoft, will allow users to leave all their games installed on one device. The update did not bring any other innovations.
You can check your Xbox software version by going to Profile and system > Settings > System > Console info > OS version.
Meanwhile, users have reported that Microsoft has started sending out emails notifying them of increase in the cost of Xbox Game Pass when using Microsoft Rewards points: Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now requires 17,000 points (an increase of 41.6%), and PC Game Pass — 10,500 points (an increase of 35.4%).
