The upcoming live-action movie is set to be released on March 26, 2027. Unfortunately, there isn’t any more information to reveal on the movie, as we don’t know who will be playing any of Nintendo’s iconic characters such as Link, Zelda, and Gannondorf.

Additionally, we don’t know how much of the movie will be animated versus live-action, but if we use the success of the Super Mario Bros. Movie as an example, we can assume that Nintendo will be attempting to replicate the popularity of that movie with The Legend of Zelda Movie by keeping to the same approximate format.

As for the Nintendo Today app, Nintendo revealed the news of The Legend of Zelda on the app before it released it on social media, which falls in line with the company’s announcement during the recent Nintendo Direct where it said the app will be the source of all major Nintendo news.

The Legend of Zelda Movie was first announced in 2023 and is being produced by Avi Arad and Shigeru Miyamoto, with Nintendo and Sony joint financing the project. Filming is expected to begin sometime 2026.
