What if Like a Dragon and One Piece had a baby? Sam Wachter opines that you’d get Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii. While the game sets sail for the high seas, it retreads some familiar ground that may or may not disappoint.

Nihon Falcom returns to the Republic of Calvard in The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak II. Alex Fuller reports that while the game might not advance the series worldbuilding all that much, there’s plenty of enjoy spending more time with its cast.

Tales of Graces f Remastered promises to be the definitive version of the game. Ezra Kinnell finds that despite some rough edges, it offers a great opportunity for RPGamers try out this entry in the long-running Tales series.

After initially launching on 3DS, Image & Form Games’s SteamWorld Dig soon spread far and wide. Jahwon Corbett takes a look back at the game to see whether the gold struck has retained its luster.

 

 

Some games are made with logic. Others are made with love. Michael Baker comes to the conclusion that Stray Children was made with both, as well as undisclosed amounts of piranha meat, rose petals, and magic mushrooms.

FromSoftware’s foray into crossing the Soulslike genre, Elden Ring, and battle royale elements represents a promising and interesting direction for the developer. Jordan McClain was able to experience six hours of the game’s first closed network test.

Coming from the renowned minds behind Zero Escape and Danganronpa comes The Hundred Line -Last Defense Academy-, a tactical RPG with a colourful cast of characters. Ryan Costa takes a look at the first few hours of the game in an early build of its demo.

Tactical Adventures is looking to build upon the success of cRPG Solasta: Crown of the Magister with its follow-up Solasta II. Alex Fuller got an early look at its first demo, available during Steam Next Fest.

 

 


Major News

Marking the series’ 35th anniversary, Red Dunes Games and BLAST ZERO have announced Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past. The game is an action adventure platforming RPG, reuniting the animated series’ casts.

Idea Factory International announced that Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy is coming west. The dungeon-crawler will launch for PlayStation consoles and Switch later this year.

Koei Tecmo and Gust released plenty of new media for Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land. In addition to the opening movie, the companies provided some looks at the game’s locales plus character-focused screenshots and artwork.

Playism and Alphawing revealed that Metal Bringer will launch in a few weeks. The roguelite action title is set in a sci-fi world with androids and giant robots.

Tableflip and gamigo announced a release date for the FATE: Reawakened bundle. The release, containing remasters of the four games in the action RPG series, will launch on PC and consoles next month.

Sandfall Interactive and Kepler Interactive released a new behind-the-scenes featurette for Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The ten-minute video focuses on the creation of the game’s music and comes with an orchestral performance of its main theme.
