There are a few PS4 emulators available for those interested in playing console games on their PCs and one of the emulators, shadPS4, has the highest compatibility with games. This emulator was recently updated to support features like AMD FSR, HDR, keyboard and mouse input remapping, and more. Version 0.7.0 has been released with these new features and several fixes to make the emulation experience even better.
As detailed on the GitHub page, shadPS4 has received an update that comes with a lot of changes, improvements, and fixes. The full list of changes can be found here, but the most exciting ones include support for AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution, which means a potentially significant improvement in FPS. The v0.7.0 update also brings HDR support, the ability to remap inputs, improved compatibility with older CPUs and Unity-based games, as well as some fixes including gyro handling, memory HLE calls, shader recompiler, and more.
According to the GitHub page, shadPS4 is currently compatible with around 41 games with varied level of efficiency. Some games run perfectly while others can reach gameplay, but have some compatibility issues. Some of the games that can run successfully include Bloodborne, Dark Souls Remastered, Red Dead Redemption, and more.
The emulator is in early development and due to the limited free time that the developers have, support for more complex games can take a while. Even still, in the past few weeks, the emulator has seen quite a lot of progress with improved support for Killzone: Shadow Fall, The Last Guardian, and Until Dawn.
shadPS4 is available on Windows, macOS, and Linux.
