No. Grand Theft Auto VI is coming only to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026, according to Rockstar’s own GTA VI page. PS4 and Xbox One owners will not be able to play it on those consoles.
PS4: ruled out by Sony
Sony is explicit. The FAQ on PlayStation’s GTA VI page says: “It will not be available for PlayStation 4 consoles.” The game is listed for PS5 and marked PS5 Pro Enhanced, meaning it has extra settings for the more powerful PS5 Pro.
The same page says pre-loading starts at midnight local time on November 10 and needs at least 212GB of free storage, and lists the Standard Edition at $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition at $99.99.
Xbox One: not listed
Microsoft’s Xbox store listing names only Xbox Series X|S under the consoles it plays on. Xbox One is not mentioned. Nacionale found no statement from Microsoft or Rockstar formally ruling out Xbox One, unlike Sony’s on PS4, but no Xbox One version has been announced.
The listing does not mention Xbox Cloud Gaming, and Rockstar’s page does not list cloud streaming either.
Switch 2 and PC
Neither is announced. Rockstar’s GTA VI page lists only PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said in May, in a Bloomberg interview reported by ETV Bharat, that Rockstar goes to console first because console players are the core audience it is judged on. No reason has been given for Switch 2, and no PC date has been given. Our separate piece covers what is known about a PC version.
What it means if you pre-ordered on the wrong console
A PS5 copy will not run on a PS4, and an Xbox Series X|S copy is not listed for Xbox One. If you bought a code or a boxed copy for a console you can’t use, the store’s or retailer’s refund rules apply. Our guide on cancelling a GTA 6 pre-order explains the deadlines on PlayStation and Xbox.
What we don’t know
- Whether GTA 6 will come to PC, Switch 2 or cloud streaming, and when.
- Whether Rockstar will ever say anything formal about Xbox One.
